Splashtop並非是一個需要安裝於電腦的Linux套件
它主要是一個內嵌於主機板的嵌入式作業系統
讓使用者買了擁有這個內嵌系統的主機板的電腦
可以在不用進入Windows就可以instant-on進入一個美麗的開機畫面

使用Linux-based的環境，至少提供網頁瀏覽器, skype, 媒體播放(可播DVD), 即時通訊, email程式等，當然，使用者仍能選擇進入一般作業系統！這算是快速替代方案
Splash理念是快速、安全、環保(因為不用光碟或其他媒體安裝，因為快速開機，所以不用一直開著電腦)
