iPhone的Touch ID技術討論

Apple Inc.不是每種產品技術都是自己開發的，在2012年的新聞中得知Apple Inc.以3.5億美金併購了「指紋識別」廠商AuthenTec，使得其他品牌手機廠不能使用Apple行動裝置所載的指紋辨識技術。

曾在課程中提到Apple Inc.也是透過併購來快速取得最好的技術，比如Topsy、PrimeSense等，包括這裡提到的AuthenTec Inc.。

用專利權人"AuthenTec"來檢索獲得的專利（美國專利為主），目前有80件美國專利，這些都是指紋辨識/生物辨識相關。

列舉一例Authentec專利：
US8,736,001揭露了指紋感測器，這是一個IC，其封裝形式與目前看到的touch ID不同。

1. A fingerprint sensor comprising:
a substrate;
a finger sensing integrated circuit (IC) on said substrate and comprising a finger sensing area on an upper surface thereof for sensing an adjacent finger, said finger sensing area comprising an array of electric field sensing electrodes;
an encapsulating material on said finger sensing IC and covering said finger sensing area; and
a bezel adjacent the finger sensing area and on an upper most surface of said encapsulating material.

以AuthenTec為基礎產生了Touch ID這項功能，不僅可用來作為使用者識別，還在行動支付上成為驗證身份的重要手段，從蘋果對於指紋的專利來看，較著重於應用，也發展出現在iPhone上的Touch ID。

這個植於裝置上按鈕內的指紋裝置包括電容式指紋感測器，這個感測器設於控制按鈕以下，如圖，因為是電容式的，所以可以感應到手指接近，也可配合控制按鈕的動作，其中介電質材料可以為藍寶石。
Claim 1：
1. A push button assembly for an electronic device, comprising:

a structure immediately adjacent to at least a portion of a button;

a fingerprint sensor stacked vertically below the button; and

a switch stacked vertically below the fingerprint sensor.

顯然Apple取得指紋辨識技術後發揚光大，將來的touch ID走向可以參考Apple所提出的專利申請案，就是整個手機面板都可能是指紋感測器，使得手指可以在顯示面板上多個位置進行指紋辨識，位置可以透過軟體去定義，甚至不是採用電容式指紋感測器，而採用超音波。

Claim 1（尚未核准）所描述的裝置包括顯示器疊層，具有蓋體、顯示層、指紋感測器，並未設定手指應該按住的位置。
1. An electronic device, comprising: a display stack comprising a cover sheet disposed over a display layer; and a fingerprint sensor included in the display stack to capture a fingerprint image of a finger positioned on a top surface of the cover sheet.
