比如會提到柯達為數位相機的發明人（如本篇討論的發明人：Steven Sasson），但是擔心他們如日中天的底片生意被威脅，加上也看不出有何成功的因素（當時CCD才剛發明），於是計畫腰斬，不過還是持續研發，至少柯達還有這樣的研究環境，也累積不少專利。
蘋果呢！還記得幾年前人手一機的iPod改變了大家聽音樂的行為（但還是不要忘了sony的walkman），現在變成可見度超高的iPhone，之後推出iPad，應該就是壓垮自己iPod的最後一根稻草。推出iPhone或iPad時，直接被威脅的不是別人，就是當時如日中天的iPod，但是這個勇敢的改變讓蘋果成為全世界市值最高的公司。
不過，平心而論，柯達推出數位相機的時候週邊都沒有配套，甚至可以稱為個人電腦的裝置都沒有，感光元件也才出現，誰也不會想到怎麼推這樣的裝置；反之，蘋果成功的因素就是科技預備好進入觸控世代，甚至大家已經具備使用行動電話的習慣，這時推出有大螢幕、觸控面板、LED背光、鋰電池...的電話，成功應該是比較可能預期的。
這時，也會想到日亞化發明藍光LED並獲得2014諾貝爾物理獎的中村修二（Shuji Nakamura），如果不是日本的終生僱用制，中村早就被日亞化趕出公司了，當時被人不屑的研究現在成為日亞化橫掃LED市場的金雞母，想必當時飽受歧視的中村應該很煎熬，之後還和日亞化打了一場還錢的訴訟。不過他說了一句同感深受（或說可以理解）的話："得獎的原動力是憤怒"（聽廣播知道的）。

柯達，還是本篇的主角，主要是看到了「Photoblog.hk」網站的報導，柯達到現在雖然已經縮小到一個印刷公司，但是專利資產還是讓這個公司可以繼續喘息。
